Former Scotland international Craig Chalmers claims his decision to play out his career at Melrose instead of Gala was down to love instead of money.
He had verbally agreed terms with Gala to become player/coach before being appraoched by former club Melrose with a similar offer.
With perhaps only a year left of his career to go, the former Scotland and Lions star admits he had to let his heart rule his head.
He said: "I am playing for Melrose because I love the club. If I'd gone to Gala it would have been for the money. This is probably my last year but I've been saying that for a while."
