Former Wales captain Jonathan Humphreys will skipper Bath this season.
Humphreys, 35, has led the English Premiership side during England lock Danny Grewcocks absence through international commitments last term.
And he was also in charge when they contested the English Premiership final against Wasps at Twickenham.
The former Cardiff hooker will be assisted by England internationals Mike Tindall and Steve Borthwick in their role as vice-captains.
I am looking forward to what promises to be an exciting season as standards across the Premiership increase year on year, while the European Cup will be an immense challenge for us, said Humphreys.
Humphreys and his colleagues left today for a two-match tour to South Africa.
Bath will play Berea Rovers next Monday, and Natal Sharks on Saturday week as a curtain-raiser to the Tri-Nations clash between South Africa and Australia in Durban.
