Moore set to retire
16 July 2004, 12:33 pm
Former Wales captain Andy Moore is set to announce his shock early retirement from the game due to injury.
The 30-year-old lock, capped 26 times, will be forced to quit after failing to recover from a neck injury suffered playing for Cardiff Blues against Neath-Swansea Ospreys in March.

Coincidentally the match was played at St Helen's where Moore made his name with the Swansea side that won three Welsh league and two cup titles in the late nineties.

After making his Test debut as a 21-year-old in South Africa, he went on to become a regular under Graham Henry during the 1999 World Cup and led the Wales tour to Japan in 2001.

However he is expected to concede defeat after finalising contractual details with the Blues' hierarchy and will now turn his attention to business interests outside of the game.
