Leandro Castrogiovanni scored a hat-trick of tries as Italy completed their summer programme with a 32-19 Test victory over Japan in Tokyo.
The Calvisano prop crossed in the 16th minute of the first half before going over twice more in the second period, after 62 minutes and in the final minute of the match.
It was Castrogiovannis first appearance of the tour, as injury had ruled him out of the other matches played by John Kirwans side.
Fly-half Rima Wakarua kicked 12 points for the Azzurri, while winger Gonzalo Canale scored the tourists other try.
The victory comes as a welcome boost for Kirwan who saw his side slip to a surprise 25-24 defeat to Romania in Bucharest last week.
