Tim Payne will complete a rapid rise from Wasps reserve to England international when he runs out for the world champions against Australia on Saturday.
The 25-year-old has been called up as injured World Cup winner Trevor Woodmans replacement at Suncorp Stadium.
Its incredible - talk about coming of the wilderness, Payne said.
Trevor is an awesome player and it is very unfortunate for him as I know he would want to be playing and I hope he gets over his injury soon.
But these chances dont come along every day and you have got to grasp them with both hands.
It has been an incredible season for me. Ive worked hard for my club all year and the rewards have been fantastic.
This is a dream come true. Every player wants to play for their country and hopefully it is a chance I can take on Saturday.
And Payne, who was not even an original selection for Englands three-Test tour of New Zealand and Australia, will win his first cap just eight weeks after answering a Wasps SOS.
The 25-year-old played second fiddle behind Wasps revered former All Blacks prop Craig Dowd until early last month.
But after Dowd suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury playing against Gloucester at Kingsholm, Payne won promotion, starting in both the European Cup and English Premiership finals when Wasps clinched a European and domestic trophy double.
Payne played for Bristol and Cardiff before joining Wasps, and his England call has come with fellow props Woodman, Matt Stevens and David Flatman all injured.
