England captain Lawrence Dallaglio has rallied his players for "one big effort" as the world champions' marathon season nears its conclusion.
Some 43 weeks after England played their first game of a momentous campaign - against Wales in Cardiff - they will finish it by facing a World Cup final rematch with Australia.
And Dallaglio, whose squad arrived in Brisbane on Sunday following a 2-0 Test series defeat against the All Blacks, is determined to see England rediscover a winning formula.
The 36-12 second Test defeat at Eden Park was their fourth from seven starts since last Novembers World Cup triumph.
They have also been hit by injuries, with centre Stuart Abbott already ruled out of the Wallabies clash and Mike Tindall, Richard Hill, Trevor Woodman all struggling to win fitness races.
And lock Danny Grewcock has landed a suspension until August 31 after being cited and found guilty of reckless use of the boot on All Blacks centre Daniel Carter.
The odds are stacked against an England win at Suncorp Stadium, where a 50,000-plus capacity crowd will be thirsting for World Cup revenge next Saturday, but Dallaglio remains upbeat.
We started the season by winning in Australia, and we have to try and finish the season by winning in Australia, and that is what we will try and do, he said.
The whole squad will share my sense of frustration. We must look forward to one big effort and try and take something positive out of this tour. Playing Test matches is about winning games, and so far we are nil and two.
We now have to try and beat Australia, who will have their own motivation after events last year.
It does not get any easier, but I am still determined to finish the season in much the same vein that I have played most of the season, by winning.
With injuries hitting the England camp, props Mike Worsley and Will Green are both on their way from Churchill Cup duty in Canada to join the senior squad.
Olly Barkley is expected to replace Abbott in Englands midfield, with Mike Catt or Fraser Waters the alternatives if Tindall does not recover from his latest injury setback.
Up-front, there could be a first cap for Wasps Tim Payne at loosehead prop, but Woodward at least has plenty of back-row cover, with Martin Corry, Michael Lipman and Chris Jones all vying for starting places.
Simon Shaw, meanwhile, can look forward to facing the Wallabies after escaping a ban following his sending-off against New Zealand.
