England captain Lawrence Dallaglio could not mask his frustration after his team's 36-12 second Test defeat against New Zealand.
Dallaglio's Wasps and England team-mate Simon Shaw was sent off in the 11th minute, effectively destroying all hope that England had of levelling the series.
Shaw now faces a three-man disciplinary panel in Auckland although England will be hopeful of seeing him cleared.
It effectively ended the game as a contest, which was disappointing for both sets of players and the fans, Dallaglio said, recalling Shaw's premature departure.
In the context of the two Tests, I don't think the incident was any worse than anything that has happened in those two Tests.
The referee didn't actually make the decision, the decision was made by the touch judge, and the referee has got to go on what the touch judge says. It was very disappointing.
I thought that the first 10 or 15 minutes belonged to us, and we were able for the first time in the series to put New Zealand under some pressure.
But unfortunately, that only lasted for 10 or 15 minutes, and after that, we were very much under pressure, he added.
Unfortunately, rugby is not like football. You just can't put five at the back and defend for 80 minutes. We defended well until half-time, then New Zealand probed and found the spaces because at this level against that quality of opposition, it's very hard to play with 14 men.
People will make the own opinions about what happened, but it should have been a penalty to England as far as I am concerned.
