The second Test between New Zealand and England will be a much tighter affair, predicts All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith.
The former Northampton Saints coach was surprised by how much space England gave the hosts in the first Test in Dunedin, which saw the world champions thumped 36-3 for their worst defeat since 1999 against South Africa.
Joe Rokocoko, Doug Howlett and Carlos Spencer all scored tries and the All Blacks ran riot in the opening 40 minutes to lead 30-3 at the break.
But Smith admitted: "I don't think they (England) will stand off like they did at Carisbrook. They were shell-shocked after 10 minutes and we won the physical battle.
I can't imagine them standing back this week. The defensive line is going to come up faster.
Smith, in charge of the All Blacks' attack, also revealed he expected better things from their back line play, although the rain predicted to hit Auckland for the match at Eden Park may put a dampener on all-out attacking rugby.
"If you watch the first three plays of the match, there were opportunities to score three tries and we didn't take them for whatever reason," he said.
"But we'll see what the conditions are like before we decide what we're going to do."
