Sir Clive Woodward has backed World Cup winners Matt Dawson and Steve Thompson to bounce back after he dropped them both for Saturday's second Test against New Zealand.
The Northampton pair are among six players axed following Englands 36-3 drubbing in Dunedin last weekend.
Their fellow World Cup squad members Mike Catt and Danny Grewcock have also paid the price, together with wing James Simpson-Daniel and flanker Chris Jones.
Into the line-up for Eden Park come wing Tom Voyce, centre Stuart Abbott, scrum-half Andy Gomarsall, hooker Mark Regan, lock Steve Borthwick and flanker Joe Worsley.
Woodwards major act of surgery means that there are just six survivors from the World Cup final starting XV - Josh Lewsey, Ben Cohen, Mike Tindall, Trevor Woodman, Richard Hill and Lawrence Dallaglio - on duty.
It will be Wasps try machine Voyces first England start, coming three years after his solitary Test match appearance as a substitute against the USA.
Abbott, meanwhile, ousts Catt, with Gomarsall preferred to Dawson, 32-year-old Regan replacing Thompson, Borthwick taking over from his Bath team-mate Grewcock and Worsley selected instead of Jones.
We took our time. We went through the tape, which wasnt great watching, so there clearly had to be some changes, said head coach Woodward.
I also think that coming on this trip with 31 players, whatever happened last weekend, there were always going to be new players coming in, so I am just talking it all on board.
I dont think I have over-reacted. Youve got to look at individual players, people like Thompson and Dawson who, when they are at their best, I would have them in front of any other player in the world (in their positions).
Clearly, Thompson is not quite at his best at the moment, and you have just got to take that type of thing on board.
Englands lineout, not helped by Thompsons wayward throwing, badly misfunctioned in Dunedin, while Dawson has lost his spark, having played just one game in two months.
I think having that first Test was similar to the All Blacks trial game in a way, because it sorted a few things out. It became very clear in my mind that we had to make some changes to make sure we had the best starting XV, added Woodward.
Its tough on people like Thompson and Dawson. I think you have also got to pat them on the back that they are here - theyve fronted-up. It is not easy for me to leave out two of the World Cup-winning team.
They will bounce back very strongly when they are fully fresh of mind and limb.
I still think that at his best, Steve Thompson is the best hooker in the world. Hes obviously lost a bit of form since November (the World Cup), but hes not on his own.
Thompson, Catt and Jones have even failed even to win places on the bench, where Woodwards back-up includes uncapped forwards Andy Titterrell and Michael Lipman.
It is not normally Woodwards style to make mass changes, but his latest selection clearly reflects an annoyance and frustration at a performance that fell way below usual England standards.
We lost the Test match last weekend because we got out-muscled in every single part of the game. You get a pat on the back when you win, and youve got to cop it when you lose, he said.
We made a lot of errors. We didnt get it right, and we have got to get it right this weekend.
Another England defeat would make it three losses in a row - something they have not experienced since the 1998 so-called Tour from Hell.
But it will require a huge effort to burst the All Blacks bubble, even though New Zealand are without injured wing Doug Howlett and flanker Richie McCaw is battling to be fit.
