Stade Francais president Max Guazzini remains hopeful that former France captain Fabien Galthie will replace recently-departed coach Nick Mallett.
Guazzini is known to be an admirer of the former Stade Francais skipper, who has never been a head coach but led the club to the French title last season and steered Les Bleus to the Six Nations crown in 2002.
Galthie has taken on other commitments since retiring from rugby after last years World Cup, which could have been a sticking point, but the president is optimistic something can be sorted out.
I think it is possible to see Fabien Galthie with us for next season, Guazzini told LEquipe.
I know Fabien well and he knows the Stade Francais culture.
I hope next week we will know more. Fabien can join us with his own assistants if he wants.
We talked together regularly by phone. Last Thursday, we had a drink in Saint-Cloud (suburb of Paris).
Guazzini was also keen to point out that South African Mallett left the club on amicable terms.
Nick was a great coach, he loves Paris, but it was hard for his family who stayed in South Africa. Nick is very attached to his family, to his wife and to his children.
I understand the situation. There is no problem.
