Padova centre Matteo Barbini has spoken of his delight at being called into John Kirwan's Italy squad for the Test matches against Romania and Japan later this month.
Barbini, who has eight caps to his name, was sidelined for last years RBS 6 Nations championship after breaking an ankle and also missed the majority of the 2004 campaign.
He said: I'm certainly very happy to be part of John Kirwans plans for the two Test matches in Romania and Japan.
We are favourites to win but both these teams are making quick progress. I believe we are going with 30 strong players despite injuries to a few major players.
We are a great group and I'm very happy the federation has confirmed John Kirwan (as coach until the 2007 World Cup).
Now we can all develop together. I believe the next RBS 6 Nations will be our chance to earn more than one victory - we are ready.
