Mike Catt will line up for England against the All Blacks on Saturday happy to put his disappointing domestic season behind him.
While World Cup-winner Catt and Bath, the club he enjoyed a 12-year relationship with, might no longer be an item, England keep coming back for more.
And Catt is determined to make the most of his latest chance, proving that, at 32, he still has what it takes at international level when he wins his 64th cap to extend an eventful England career into its' 11th year.
Catt, now fully fit following persistent niggling injury problems, remains a vital cog in Sir Clive Woodward's England machine.
His importance has been highlighted by his selection at inside centre against New Zealand as replacement for the rested Will Greenwood and 'minder' to fly-half Charlie Hodgson.
I am happy that I've got new challenges ahead of me now. I've got this tour, and I've got pre-season with London Irish, and that is what I am looking at.
I am not going to dwell on the past, there's no point in doing that.
To come down to New Zealand and be part of the starting team is fantastic. It's great to get a starting position.
I have got a chance on Saturday, and I am going to take it with both hands, like I did in the World Cup.
I've had a fantastic career, so to come down to New Zealand and get a Test win would be absolutely fantastic.
"I've been everywhere else in the world and won, so this is a big challenge.
The Dunedin clash provides Catt's first England start since the World Cup semi-final victory over France last November.
And his priceless commodity of experience has helped give him the edge over midfield rivals Stuart Abbott and Fraser Waters, who both pushed hard for recognition following outstanding seasons with Wasps.
Woodward has made seven changes, including one positional switch, from the side beaten 24-21 by France in the RBS 6 Nations Championship 10 weeks ago.
Wasps' Josh Lewsey moves from wing to full-back, instead of the rested Jason Robinson, so Gloucester wing James Simpson-Daniel will feature for his first England start since a World Cup warm-up victory over Wales last August.
Hodgson also returns, preferred to Bath's Olly Barkley, who started England's last two RBS 6 Nations games but now fails even to feature on the bench.
Up-front, Leicester prop Julian White takes over from an injured Phil Vickery, Premiership player of the season Simon Shaw partners Danny Grewcock in the second-row, and Sale Sharks forward Chris Jones reclaims blindside flanker duties from Joe Worsley.
Worsley is among three Wasps players on the bench, joined by Abbott and resurgent wing Tom Voyce.
