Scotland full-back Chris Paterson has been released from a Sydney hospital after having major facial surgery.
The Edinburgh player had two titanium plates inserted to correct the facial fractures he sustained in the match against Samoa last Friday night.
He has rejoined his team-mates for rest and recovery before returning to Scotland.
Paterson said: Its pretty uncomfortable at the moment.
Itll be another day or two before I get the stitches out then Ill need to wait for the all-clear from the specialist before I can fly home.
It's really disappointing to be out of the tour but Im just looking ahead now and focussing on getting better ready for the start of next season.
Glasgow full-back Stuart Moffat, who was last capped in 2002 against Fiji, has been called up to the squad to cover for the injured Paterson.
He said: I was scheduled to be playing with the Barbarians on Thursday in Portugal so the call to join the Scotland squad came as a bit of a surprise.
Its a great opportunity for me and Im delighted to be able to join the national squad in Australia.
