Lane joins Azzurri

Tim Lane has joined Italy's backroom staff after signing a one-year deal with the Azzurri.

The former Wallaby and Springbok assistant coach will help John Kirwan over the next 12 months in a bid to make Italy more competitive in next seasons RBS 6 Nations championship.

Lane has previous coaching experience in Europe after guiding French club Montferrand into the final of the Top 16.

His main task with Italy will be to work with the three-quarter line which has been one of the weaker aspects of their recent play.
