Catt sweats on injury news
27 May 2004, 4:44 pm
Bath centre Mike Catt could miss his side's Premiership final against Wasps through injury but his fellow England internationals Mike Tindall and Matt Perry have been given the all-clear to play.
Catt has been named among the replacements but is suffering from a calf strain and might be forced to pull out of the Twickenham showpiece. Spencer Davey is on standby to take his place.

Bath coach John Connolly is due to make a final decision on Catt but if ruled out it would be a bitterly disappointing way for the 32-year-old, who joins London Irish during the summer, to end his 11-year spell at the Recreation Ground.

There is better news elsewhere, however, with centre Tindall and full-back Perry both able to take their place in the starting line-up after shaking off hamstring injuries.

Prop David Flatman had already been ruled out with an Achilles tendon injury so his position is filled by David Barnes with Matt Stevens providing cover from the bench after recovering from a knee infection.

England fly-half Olly Barkley wins a spot on the bench - Chris Malone continues at number 10 - while former Wales hooker Jonathan Humphreys will captain the side.

Bath, once the rulers of English club rugby, have failed to lift a domestic trophy since 1996 and must produce a titanic performance to upset Wasps, the defending champions and bookies favourites.
