Leinster coach Gary Ella has hailed Brian O'Driscoll's decision to pledge his immediate future to the club as "great news for Irish rugby".
ODriscoll - whose current deal with the Irish Rugby Football Union expires during the summer - has been linked with a move to France and England where clubs have been queuing up to sign one of the most gifted players in the game.
But the British Lions centre will snub a potentially lucrative move abroad in favour of agreeing a new two-year deal with Leinster.
He is yet to sign the contract, but his father Frank said: Yes, we are delighted to confirm we have agreed terms with the Union - and it is only a matter of Brian physically putting pen to paper.
Everything is now in order, and he will continue to live in Ireland and play for Leinster.
Ella Is understandably delighted that ODriscoll is staying put.
Its great news for Leinster and for Irish rugby, Ella told the Irish Independent.
We can really start planning for next year now that Brian has agreed to stay on.
He is one of the best in the business in his position, and Im delighted that he has opted to stay and play his rugby in Ireland.
