Simon Shaw has received a ringing endorsement in his quest to tour New Zealand and Australia this summer - from England captain Lawrence Dallaglio.
And selection for Englands three-Test trip that features two appointments with the All Blacks and one against Australia would at least partly compensate Shaw following his World Cup frustration.
England head coach Sir Clive Woodward described omitting 6ft 9in Wasps lock Shaw from his World Cup squad as the hardest selection decision he had made in six years as red rose boss.
Shaw eventually flew to Australia, but he did not see active service after replacing injury victim Danny Grewcock midway through the tournament, while his RBS 6 Nations contribution this season was limited to substitute appearances against Italy and Scotland.
He continues to produce top-class performances for Premiership champions Wasps though, as illustrated with a man-of-the-match display in the 31-5 stroll past fellow title challengers Northampton.
Simon would be in anyones Premiership team of the season, said Wasps skipper Dallaglio. He brings a hard, physical edge, and he also has the footballing skills as well.
I dont pick the (England) squad or team, but there is a mighty tough tour coming up and we will need mighty tough people down there. They dont get much tougher than Simon.
