France international Olivier Magne claims revenge is in the air as his side head into their RBS 6 Nations title showdown with England this weekend.
Magne, who scored a try in the comfortable 31-0 win over Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday, was part of the French team beaten by England in the World Cup semi-final.
That 24-7 defeat in Sydneys Telstra Stadium attracted heavy criticism from the French media.
Now, with the RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam within their grasp, Magne has urged his team-mates to step up their efforts.
Yes, there is a feeling of revenge but it is not that important, he said. The feeling of revenge will always be there because we are a very close team.
But you have to raise your game if you want to beat England, but our confidence is very good.
We had many young players in the World Cup and their experience since then has helped them.
We have improved and are not playing the same game as we were a few months ago.
But Magne has warned his side that, despite the recent defeat by Ireland, Englands second-half display against Wales on Saturday was their best of the tournament so far.
He added: This is a game which will allow us to win the Grand Slam.
We have a good team and are improving with every game but Englands last 30 minutes against Wales was the best they have played in the Six Nations.
We are going to see a great England team next week in Paris and it will be an even harder game than the last time against them.
