Bollesan warns of Irish threat
17 March 2004, 12:59 pm
Italy team manager Marco Bollesan has warned his side that Saturday's opponents Ireland will want to win "at all cost" and maintain their RBS 6 Nations challenge.
Italy, full of confidence following their 20-14 victory over Scotland in their last game, fly out to Dublin on Thursday to make final preparations for the Lansdowne Road clash.

Their hosts will be keen to build on their momentous triumph over world champions England at Twickenham and will no doubt receive a rapturous homecoming.

I think the Irish want win at any cost because they are still on course for the Six Nations and they have played very well in the tournament, said Bollesan.

The win (against England) at Twickenham was the cherry on the cake.

Italy trained at the Flaminio Stadium on Wednesday morning and the players will take to the gym later in the afternoon.

On Thursday we will fly to Dublin and get ready to face the in-form Irish, added the coach.

Italy coach John Kirwan has brought in Scott Palmer in the back row to replace the injured Sergio Parisse, who was stretchered off in the Scotland game after picking up a muscle injury.

Matteo Barbini also returns to the side at centre in place of Manuel Dallan while Carlo Checchinato starts in the second row with Santiago Dellape dropping to the bench.

Fly-half Rima Wakarua has been omitted from the squad after appearing as a substitute during the Rome clash.

Italy team: Gonzalo Canale, Nicola Mazzucato, Cristian Stoica, Matteo Barbini, Denis Dallan, Roland De Marigny, Paul Griffin; Leandro Castrogiovanni, Fabio Ongaro, Andrea Lo Cicero, Carlo Checchinato, Marco Bortolami, Scott Palmer, Aaron Persico, Andrea De Rossi.

Replacements: Mirco Bergamasco, Andrea Masi, Carlo Festuccia, Roberto Mandelli, Salvatore Perugini, Santiago Dellape, Simon Picone.
