Tindall returns for Wales clash
15 March 2004, 3:21 pm
Sir Clive Woodward has made four changes - including the positional switch of Jason Robinson - to the England team for the RBS 6 Nations Championship clash against Wales at Twickenham.
Woodward promised not to over-react following the 19-13 home defeat against Ireland nine days ago, and he has stuck to his word.

Bath centre Mike Tindall returns to the line-up for his first start since last Novembers World Cup final.

Tindall - having recovered from a serious ankle injury - returns to Englands midfield, which means that Robinson reverts to full-back following three games as Will Greenwoods centre partner.

Iain Balshaw, who wore the number 15 shirt against Ireland, was not considered because of injury.

In the pack, Bath captain Danny Grewcock returns to the second row instead of his club colleague Steve Borthwick, with Sale Sharks forward Chris Jones replacing Wasps flanker Joe Worsley.

Borthwick and Worsley are on the bench, together with fit-again Leicester prop Julian White, whose selection means that there will be no emotional Twickenham send-off for retiring world cap record-holder Jason Leonard.

The experienced Mike Catt also features among the substitutes, taking over from his Bath team-mate Olly Barkley.

Leicester flanker Neil Back, who has confirmed his retirement from Test rugby after the RBS 6 Nations, is not involved.

"It's good to see a few of the more established players coming back, said Woodward.

With Tindall back this allows Jason Robinson to move back to the position he likes best and I like him in best - full back.

With Grewcock coming back, he's been the guy along with Simon Shaw earmarked to replace Martin Johnson.

Missing both those players last weekend was a big blow to us.

England team to play Wales in the RBS 6 Nations at Twickenham:
J Robinson (Sale Sharks); J Lewsey (Wasps), W Greenwood (Harlequins), M Tindall (Bath), B Cohen (Northampton); P Grayson (Northampton), M Dawson (Northampton); T Woodman (Gloucester), S Thompson (Northampton), P Vickery (Gloucester), D Grewcock (Bath), B Kay (Leicester), C Jones (Sale Sharks), R Hill (Saracens), L Dallaglio (Wasps, capt).

Replacements: M Regan (Leeds), J White (Leicester), S Borthwick (Bath), J Worsley (Wasps), A Gomarsall (Gloucester), M Catt (Bath), J Simpson-Daniel (Gloucester).
