Ruddock may turn to Quinnell and Howley

New Wales coach Mike Ruddock may try to tempt Scott Quinnell and Rob Howley out of retirement when he takes charge of the national side.

Quinnell and Howley both withdrew from international rugby in 2002 but remain active for Llanelli Scarlets and Wasps respectively and Ruddock has not ruled out bringing them back.

Ruddock said: There is every chance I might speak to Scott Quinnell and Rob Howley and see what their state of mind is.

Whether they are able to consider it after retiring for family reasons, I dont know but I think I owe it to them to pick the phone up and have a chat.
