Mower back in Scots reckoning
8 March 2004, 5:22 pm
Andrew Mower is in line for a return to the Scotland team after receiving his first call-up to the squad from head coach Matt Williams.
The Newcastle Falcons openside flanker has been missing from the three RBS 6 Nations defeats against Wales, England and Italy with a knee ligament injury.

But he will join Williams 49-man training squad in Stirling this week as the team attempt to put the disappointment of the 20-14 loss in Rome behind them against France on March 20.

And the 28-year-old admits he is relishing the chance to play for his country again.

Mower told www.scottishrugby.org: I'm doing really well. I was quite down when I was first injured but Ive been working hard and things have progressed well.

Ive been running for a while now and have recently started doing contact work and bag work so am pretty positive about being back to full fitness very soon.

Ive been speaking with the medical team at Murrayfield and Im looking forward to getting right back into the thick of things.

Edinburgh Gunners centre Matt Dey has also been called up for the training squad for the first time.
