Ieuan Evans believes that Wales must sharpen up their set-piece game for next week's RBS 6 Nations Championship clash against England at Twickenham.
Wales were given a tough time in the scrum by Millennium Stadium conquerors France, and world champions England will be determined to exploit any weakness.
Red rose supremo Sir Clive Woodward has his own problems though, not least a malfunctioning lineout during Englands shock 19-13 home defeat to Ireland, so Wales must feel that they at least have an outside chance of achieving a first Twickenham triumph since 1988.
Wales will have to concentrate first and foremost on tightening up their scrum if they are to have any chance of springing a surprise against England, said Evans, the Team RBS Ambassador for Wales.
Pre-match fears that the scrum would prove the Welsh Achilles heel against France came horribly true. And if there is more of that against England, then we will be playing off the back foot yet again.
The focus now turns to Twickenham, and with the thinness of our front-row resources, there is much work to be done there if we are to avoid a repeat.
England are not as aggressive as France, but they do look at that area to launch moves from the back of the scrum. Lawrence Dallaglio is one who really relishes that sort of opportunity, and is heavily effective to boot.
So the bottom line is that we simply have to have solidity there, a platform for the backs if we are to ask them (England) any searching questions.
We cannot permit England to dominate at the set-pieces, otherwise it will be another afternoon of tackle, tackle and tackle some more.
Wales have to take a leaf out of the Irish book. They have to pressurise England and work the set-pieces with the aggression that Ireland displayed."
