Scotland second row Scott Murray has pleaded with fans to be patient as his team attempt to battle their way out of the rugby mire.
The Scots are on course for the 2004 RBS 6 Nations wooden spoon following their 20-14 rout by Italy on Saturday, a result which leaves them marooned at the foot of the championship table.
Matt Williams men have tricky appointments against France and Ireland to come but, while Murray acknowledges that the outcome at the Stadio Flaminio was hard to endure, he believes Scottish rugby can look forward to a brighter future - provided they are given the time to improve.
The game was massively disappointing. You could hear a pin drop in the changing rooms afterwards and rightly so because we were beaten. Were very annoyed about what happened, said the Edinburgh lock.
Its frustrating and we know its going to be a long process to get back on track, but hopefully the fans will help us out of the current situation. Were trying to build for something better.
Were ranked ninth in the world and we want to improve on that. Judging by Saturdays performance its going to take a lot longer than we thought. We can only go back to the drawing board and start again.
