Tim Visser
Wing Tim Visser is a fan of Scott Johnson's coaching approach
Visser wants Johnson to stay with Scotland

Wing Tim Visser has called for Scotland interim head coach Scott Johnson to take on the permanent role ahead of their RBS 6 Nations clash with Wales.

Johnson was appointed interim head coach for the RBS 6 Nations as well as the summer tour to South Africa in December following Andy Robinson’s departure.

After defeat to England in his first game in charge, Johnson has led Scotland to back-to-back wins against Italy and Ireland to move level with Wales on four points.

Scotland now welcome Johnson’s former employers Wales to Murrayfield – their third straight and final home fixture in this year’s RBS 6 Nations – on Saturday.

And wing Visser, who has started all three of Scotland’s RBS 6 Nations match this year, insists Johnson’s impact has been such that he would like to see him in a permanent position.

“I definitely want him to stay on,” said Visser. “He’s brilliant. He has created an atmosphere of enjoyment and he is bringing the joy back into the game for us. It is fun being around him.

“His approach and his knowledge of the game make him a really good coach to be around. He highlights stuff and teaches you stuff as a player which I had never heard about.

“I don’t get everything he says because of the accent, but I do love being coached by him. He can still approach things with a bit of humour and try to keep thing light-hearted even when they are very serious.

“But when he wants to get things over that are important then we know about it.”
