Jones was one of seven players released back to their regions this weekend by Wales coach Rob Howley before the trip to Scotland a week on Saturday.
The 27-year-old continued his comeback from a shoulder injury when he appeared off the bench during the 26-9 win over Italy and is now battling with Andrew Coombs to start against the Scots.
And while the Ospreys captain acknowledges Coombs has impressed in the second row, he’s determined to offer Howley a reminder of his abilities this weekend.
“Their performances speak for themselves,” said Jones.
“It's funny when you play international rugby you never really own the jersey, you are just in possession of it at one point.
“I have been in and out of it and been injured and come back into it and it is part of the game.
“Obviously I can't look too far forward, I had only 30 minutes against Italy and the Ospreys have a game against Munster at the weekend. It is an opportunity for me and I can't look any further ahead than that.”
