Wales still eyeing a Six Nations crown
Evans is still eyeing a Welsh Six Nations crown

They may have slipped up in their RBS 6 Nations opener against Ireland in Cardiff but Ospreys lock Ian Evans insists Wales still hold aspirations of lifting this season's Championship.
After their impressive win in Paris last time out, Evans revealed there’s newfound belief in the Welsh dressing room as they to head Italy this weekend – buoyed by the absence of Italian skipper Sergio Parisse.

England may have a 100 per cent record currently, having beaten Scotland and Ireland so far in this season’s Championship – but Evans is expecting the Stuart Lancaster’s men to slip up at some point in the coming weeks.

"If everything progresses the way we hope it will, it could all come down to the last game," said Evans.

"But we have got to take it step by step.

"You can't win a Grand Slam every year. The bottom line is to try to come away with the trophy and try to represent ourselves to a high standard."

"The first 20 is always key. They are a passionate team and, if we can take that sting out of it, especially up front, hopefully we can stick to our game-plan.

"People give Italy a lot of disrespect, but when you play them in Rome they are a very good team.

"Speaking from a regional rugby point of view, you go to Treviso and they are a very tough team to beat and they deserve your respect."
