Having scaled the heights of beating France 23-18 on the opening weekend of RBS 6 Nations action Brunel’s side came back down to earth with a bump at Murrayfield last time out, losing 34-10.
The four-try Scots claimed a first win under interim boss Scott Johnson to shake off a dismal run of form that led to former boss Andy Robinson quitting.
Italy struggled to get going in Scotland and only had a try from Alessandro Zanni to show from what was a tough afternoon on their travels.
However it’s back to home comforts for Brunel’s troops next time out and the Italy coach is urging his side to regroup rapidly in order to try and bag their second win of the 2013 tournament against Wales.
“It’s disappointing as a result but that’s how it is,” he said.
“We have to be positive about it, even with this. The Six Nations has only just started. This week off will help us digest the win and get back together next Sunday in Rome with a lot of desire to do well against Wales in the Olimpico.”
