Dusautoir on familiar ground

Thierry Dusautoir admits he finds himself in familiar territory leading a French team trying to bounce back from defeat in Italy.
The 2011 world player of the year was skipper of les Bleus two years ago when they were beaten for the first time in the RBS 6 Nations by the Azzurri.

Pascal Papé took over the captaincy this year, but for the same result in Rome, and after the second row was ruled out through injury, Dusautoir will lead the team as they attempt to get back on track against Wales.

He said: “It’s not the first time that I find myself in this situation, after a defeat in Italy. It’s a situation that I know, but there aren’t that many solutions for bouncing back. We have four games left.

“We have to tell ourselves that the tournament didn’t end in Rome.

“I don’t think the players need my help. They are angry about their performance last weekend. But we have to remember that the Italians played a very good game.
“We weren’t good enough to win a Six Nations match. I think our pride was hurt enough that we will be able to get ourselves up for the Welsh game.

“I’ve adapted as I often do. I’ve tried to see the positive side of things. Just as I did when I was just a soldier. That situation was good for me because it took a little bit of pressure off me.

“Now I’m captain again but I still remember a lot of it. I haven’t forgotten everything yet but it’s not forever, just until Pascal Papé returns.”
