He then had to sit on the sidelines as Scott Johnson’s men eventually succumbed to a powerful English performance, with tries for debutant Sean Maitland and Stuart Hogg providing some consolation in a 38-18 defeat.
New Zealand-born winger Maitland had given the Scots the perfect start with his try after just nine minutes as he benefited from a sensational counter-attack by Glasgow teammate Hogg.
When Strokosch was forced off, the Scots only trailed 6-5, and they were still in touch at the break despite Chris Ashton’s try giving England an 19-11 lead.
However England made the quicker start to the second half with Billy Twelvetrees’ try, before Geoff Parling crossed as well.
The Scots hit back with a long-range score from Hogg, but were comfortably beaten in the end as their winless streak at Twickenham continues.
And with a clash against Italy next up at Murrayfield on Saturday, Scotland doctor James Robson admits it’s too early to tell how long Strokosch will be out of action.
He said: “As ever with such collision-type injuries, they can take time to settle.
“He will be examined by Mr Martin Paley, a maxillary facial specialist at Spire Murrayfield Hospital on Tuesday, to determine the extent of the injury and any recovery schedule.”
