The 21-year-old centre, who has been capped by England three times, made his international debut against South Africa this summer and is likely to see more action in the autumn internationals ahead of eyeing up a spot in Stuart Lancaster’s 2013 RBS 6 Nations squad.

Exiles director of rugby Brian Smith has backed Joseph to star for England in the coming months after bagging one try, and assisting David Paice’s and Topsy Ojo’s scores against the Saints.

And Smith, who saw his side secure just their second win of the Aviva Premiership season at the Madejski Stadium, believes Joseph has more than earned another chance to represent his country.

"I would like to see JJ get another crack,” he said. “He is a class act and his talent is well regarded by the English coaches.

“And with Mike Catt now part of the England set-up, he knows what JJ can do.”
