Visser focussed on results over tries

Tim Visser insists that making his international debut on the far side of the world was a blessing rather than a curse and he's determined to make it three wins out of three summer-tour matches for Scotland on Saturday.
With an international strike-rate reading; one cap, two tries, the 25-year-old had a dream start to his Test career and helped Scotland, without a win in this year’s RBS 6 Nations, to triumph 37-25 against Fiji in Lautoka.

The win followed their historic 9-6 win over Australia in Newcastle and head coach Andy Robinson’s team could end their summer travels with a perfect record should they beat Samoa in Apia.

But the wing, who has been the Celtic League’s top try scorer for the last three seasons, is adamant that crossing the whitewash was not his focus when donning the dark-blue Scottish jersey for the first time.

“From a personal perspective it was good to get two tries but it wasn’t one of my goals, I just wanted to have a consistent game, which I think I did,” said Visser.

“It was a good start and getting back to winning ways with Scotland was brilliant.

“Being able to play against Fiji out here was brilliant for me because it meant there was a little less pressure than having to be in front of 65,000 at Murrayfield which was good.

“Samoa are a good side, we saw them play against Fiji last week - it was a fierce physical battle.

“In terms of a difference with Fiji I think they are a bit more strategical and they tend to kick a little bit and try and play in the right areas of the field which Fiji absolutely didn’t try and do.”
