Robinson wants Scott to make most of first international start

Scotland coach Andy Robinson wants Matt Scott to deliver on his potential after handing the Edinburgh centre his first international start for Tuesday's Test match with Australia.
The 21-year-old made his Scotland debut from the bench during the RBS 6 Nations clash with Ireland on March 10 and that as an emergency replacement on the wing.

Scott will this time however start at his preferred centre against the Wallabies while prop Ryan Grant is in line to win his first international cap Down Under.

Coach Robinson has made six changes in total for Tuesday’s clash in Newcastle and he admits he is expecting big things from Scott in particular.

“I am pleased for somebody like Matt Scott who had a taste in the Six Nations and did well in the Heineken Cup,” said Robinson.

“We are really looking for him on this tour to really make a mark. For him, this is a real chance. It is a good run of games on this tour and he is responding well in training.

“It is about being able to handle Test rugby and for a back there is no greater Test than being able to play against the Australians both in attack and defence.

“And this is an opportunity for Ryan to show the form he was showing for Glasgow after being involved in the World Cup preparations.”
