Hook wants Wales fly-half jersey

James Hook admits he has designs on Rhys Priestland's Wales No. 10 jersey after playing a full season at fly-half for Perpignan.
Hook has long been cast as a utility back for the international side – playing at both full-back and wing in his three substitute appearances during this year’s RBS 6 Nations campaign.

Adding a wing appearance to his repertoire ensured the 26-year-old needs only a spell at scrum-half to have covered every position in the backline.

That nomadic Welsh lifestyle is a far cry from his experience in the Top 14 with Perpignan this year however with Hook playing at No. 10 throughout the campaign.

And Hook his hoping the domestic continuity can reap international rewards as he looks to oust fly-half incumbent Priestland.

“I feel happy where I am and I'm enjoying it, which is what it is all about,” said Hook.

"Playing there [fly-half] at club level has to help me internationally, but it is up to the coaches and injuries and things like that, which you can't really help.

"I would never turn down the opportunity to play for Wales, wherever the position is.

"But it makes it more difficult for the coaches to pick you as a fly-half if you are not playing there regularly for your club, so that helps."
