It was their misfiring lineout, without injured first choice hooker William Servat, which was one of the major reasons for the defeat.

And Lamboley, who won the RBS 6 Nations with France back in 2007, is well aware of the importance of solving the lineout problems ahead of their final game of the regular season against Montpellier.

He said: “What we are trying to put in place is beginning to take form, even if there are still a lot of things to sort out, especially in the second half. But in terms of what we want to do, there are a lot of positives heading into the semi-finals.

“There were a few issues in the second half which we need to work on. The lineout has been an issue, but we are working very hard on it, it’s improving.

“Of course if we carry on winning the same proportion of lineout ball that we are at the moment, and if we struggle in the scrum, we won’t get very far. We need to resolve those problems immediately.

“But we know where the problem is coming from and we are working on it. Even if it’s the end of the season, we aren’t quite there yet. We need to sort it out as quickly as possible.

“We’re slowly improving, we want the game against Montpellier to continue along that path, especially in the set-piece. We’ll then have two weeks to work together and get ready for the semi-final.”
