Scotland legend Chris Paterson will bring the curtain down on a much-decorated rugby career at Murrayfield this Saturday.
The 34-year-old, who holds the Scottish points and caps record, will pull on the Edinburgh jersey for the last time as the Gunners take on Treviso in their final game of the PRO12.

Paterson announced his retirement from the international game in December of last year, meaning he did not feature in Scotland’s disappointing 2012 RBS 6 Nations campaign.

The unerring goalkicker captained Scotland during the 2004 and 2007 RBS 6 Nations and ended up with 109 caps to his name and an impressive haul of 809 points.

And Paterson is not the only Scottish star bidding farewell to Edinburgh this weekend as scrum-half Mike Blair and stand-off Phil Godman will also be departing for pastures new.

And head coach Michael Bradley, who guided his side to their first-ever Heineken Cup semi-final this season, admits it will be a day of mixed emotions at Murrayfield.

“Saturday will be a memorable match for a number of reasons,” he said. “We’ll bring the curtain down on an incredible season, say farewell to these fine players and, at the final whistle, look to the future and begin preparations to capitalise on this landmark year.

“It’ll be an emotional day for fans and players alike, as they show their mutual appreciation for the role they’ve played for the club over the years.

“We’ve enjoyed an historic season in the Heineken Cup this year with a number of memorable matches here at Murrayfield.

“However our form in the RaboDirect PRO12 has been a constant frustration, so this Saturday will be about drawing a line under that element of our season and sending these guys off on a high.”
