And they weren’t disappointed with Quins centre Lowe – who scored one try and denied Sarries with two last-gasp tackles – in particular hogging the limelight.

Jordan Turner-Hall, who turned out twice in England’s RBS 6 Nations campaign, was also on the scoresheet for Quins while Danny Care also crossed.

England’s RBS 6 Nations star kicker Owen Farrell kept Sarries in touch with four penalties and a conversion for Richard Wigglesworth’s try.

However he was powerless to stop Quins stretching their lead at the top of the Premiership to six points with their first victory over Saracens in six games.

And O’Shea was in no doubt who new England coach Stuart Lancaster should have been taking notice of.

“I have to pinch myself to think that he is 22," O'Shea said. "George is an outstanding outside centre and hopefully he can put himself on the map (for England) during the end of the season having been unfortunate with injury earlier.

“If the team is being successful then people get recognised.”

Elsewhere Exeter Chiefs’ charge towards the Premeirship play-offs continued with an 18-11 win over London Irish.

Gonzalo Camacho scored his first try in a Chiefs shirt while James Hanks also crossed, Tom Homer scoring a try and kicking two penalties in reply for the Exiles.

Meanwhile Ryan Lamb was the star turn as Northampton Saints made light work of seeing off Bath, winning 26-6.

Lamb had a 100 percent record with the boot, kicking 14 points with a penalty try and a score from former Bath hooker Andy Long also helping them to a victory which maintains their play-off push.
