However Edwards is adamant Lydiate won’t be jumping ship – revealing he has had absolutely no contact with anyone about a potential move away from Rodney Parade.

“I think all that Dan is concerned with is getting back to work with the Dragons and he is excited by the PRO12 game with Connacht on Friday,” said Edwards.

“When he comes out of contract there will be massive interest in him, no doubt about it, but Dan has got a year to run and he is 100 per-cent going to be here next season.

“I think it’s becoming old news now – any good player in any team in the country is apparently moving to France.

“When I asked Dan about it he said the first thing that he knew about it was when his dad rang him after reading it somewhere.”
