Sam Warburton
Sam Warburton was forced to lift the RBS 6 Nations trophy with one arm
Wales skipper Warburton avoids serious injury

Wales captain Sam Warburton has revealed he suffered no serious damage after being forced off injured during Wales' RBS 6 Nations championship decider with France.
The 23-year-old flanker suffered nerve problems in his shoulder after a clash with Julien Bonnaire and was forced to be replaced by Ryan Jones at half-time on Saturday.

Warren Gatland’s side went on to clinch the Grand Slam in the 16-9 triumph but Warburton admitted his frustration in not finishing the game and having his Six Nations celebrations interrupted by a scan.

Warburton is hoping to lead Wales during their June tour of Australia but admits he had been pushing his body to its limits since Wales’ charge to the World Cup semi-finals.

“Lifting the trophy was a bit of a problem," he told Walesonline.

"I could only do it with my left arm, that’s for sure. It was my right shoulder that I injured during the first half, meaning I didn’t appear for the second half.

"After the game I had a decision to make. Go for a scan immediately or wait until Sunday morning? There were scenes of such joy that it was a tricky decision.

"Those are the moments a sportsperson cherishes as you enjoy each other’s company in celebration of such a huge achievement.

“It was an amazing feeling. But then it was time for a scan. I just had to know what was wrong. I couldn’t have enjoyed my night otherwise.

"The medical people think it might just be a nerve problem, but we will know more in the next couple of days. I obviously want to be fit for the Cardiff Blues’ Heineken Cup quarter-final against Leinster on April 7, but am just not sure whether that will be possible at the moment.

“In truth my body has been creaking for a while, since the World Cup."
