Nick De Luca impressed off the bench during the defeat to France
De Luca starts for Scotland against Ireland

Centre Nick De Luca has been rewarded for his fine showing from the bench against France with a place in Scotland's team to face Ireland in the RBS 6 Nations on Saturday.

It’s the only personnel change to Andy Robinson’s starting XV from the 17-23 defeat to the Les Bleus in Paris, with Rory Lamont dropping out through injury and elder brother Sean moving to the wing.

Fly-half Ruaridh Jackson is in line for his first appearance in this season’s competition after proving his fitness with Glasgow to earn a place on the bench.

Newcastle prop Euan Murray and Castres wing Max Evans are named alongside Jackson, with Duncan Weir and Ed Kalman dropping out.

And while Scotland were hailed for their performance in the defeat to France, Robinson insists victory is all he is searching for against Ireland.

“If we do the basic things well and are ruthless in contact then we can put ourselves in a position to defeat a very good Ireland team,” said Robinson.

“Ruaridh has worked hard and done well in his games with Glasgow.

“He had a tough time with injury following the Rugby World Cup but he has the strength of character required in international rugby.

“We are also delighted to see Max and Euan back in the squad and look forward to their contribution this weekend.

“We did many good things in the game against France but we need to be better, especially in our accuracy and execution at breakdown, in order to beat Ireland.”
