Peter Wright believes Andy Robinson needs to remain in charge of senior side
Scotland Under-20s coach says Robinson must stay

Scotland Under-20s coach Peter Wright is convinced Andy Robinson must remain in charge of the senior team despite suffering five straight defeats.
Wright, who made 21 appearances in the Scotland front row, has watched on as Scotland have suffered RBS 6 Nations defeats to England, Wales and France but Robinson’s side had their chances in all three of those matches.

Prior to the start of the Championship, Scotland suffered back-to-back defeats at the World Cup to England and Argentina while Sunday’s defeat to France ensures Robinson has an unenviable record of two wins from 13 RBS 6 Nations outings.

But Wright, who saw his Under-20 side lose a third straight match at the weekend, believes Robinson must be given more time.

"I think we've got to stick with him. I think the players like him,” he said.

“I think the biggest majority of the public like the guy. They can see he's got real passion for the team.

"He is improving the team, there's no doubt about it. The one thing we've got to learn to do is win games.

"But, despite the defeat, we go over to Ireland with a lot of confidence now.

"Andy is his own biggest critic. The results are very important, but what you've also got to look at is how we're performing, how he's brought the young guys through.”
