Street relishing France clash where something must give

England Women head coach Gary Street has labelled his side's forthcoming RBS 6 Nations match with France as a clash of the titans with both sides putting their 100 per-cent records on the line.
Street’s side chalked up their third straight victory of the Championship with a thumping 33-0 win over Wales on Saturday – scoring six tries in the process with Michaela Staniford bagging a double and Emily Scarratt, Kay Wilson, Sarah Hunter and Rowena Burnfield all also crossing.

It followed emphatic victories over Scotland and Italy but France have been equally impressive hitherto, also chalking up three wins from their opening three matches.

It means that England will take a huge step closer to a seventh straight crown should they claim victory in Paris on March 11 – and Street is only too aware of the threat that France will pose.

“We have now got two weeks to prepare for our penultimate game against France and really look at ourselves and analyse the French,” said Street.

“With both teams unbeaten this is going to be a titanic battle but we are going to make sure we are ready for that challenge.

“I was really pleased with the performance on Saturday. Wales made us work hard for the victory, bringing passion and determination to the game and they tried very hard to stop our players in their tracks.

“At half-time when we were leading 13-0 we spoke about improving our discipline, to stop giving away so many penalties and to be more patient. When we started to do that the points came.”
