Sampson released

Former England winger Paul Sampson has been released by English Premiership champions Wasps.

Sampson had struggled to regain his place in the Wasps first team after recovering from a knee re-construction.

The 26-year-old was injured during the Dubai Sevens in December 2002 and spent almost 12 months on the sidelines before joining Bath on loan last November.

Sampson first joined Wasps in 1996 and returned four years later after a spell with his hometown rugby league club Wakefield.
