Street rings England changes before Wales match
21 February 2012, 4:11 pm
By Sportsbeat
Head coach Gary Street has the rung the changes ahead of England Women's RBS 6 Nations showdown with Wales at Twickenham this weekend despite his side only conceding three points so far in the Championship.
After thumping away wins over Scotland and Italy, England will be looking to continue their near perfect start but Street has warned his side that he expects a tough game from the Welsh who eased to a comfortable 20-0 victory over the Scots last time out.

Fly-half Katy Mclean – who returns as captain – is one of eight players coming into the starting 15 which will also see Hannah Gallagher and Harriet Millar-Mills make their Twickenham debuts in the back row on February 25.

Lichfield scrum-half Natasha Hunt comes in to start her first international at full-back in place of Emily Scarrat who switches to the centre after her 13-point showing against the Italians.

Kay Wilson – back after illness – and Michaela Staniford form a new wing pairing while Victoria Fleetwood and Sophie Hemming come into the front row.

The hugely experienced bench has 279 caps between them and Street said he can’t wait for the game to come as they return to the ground where they beat New Zealand back in November.

“Playing at Twickenham is a huge opportunity for these players,” he said.

“Playing at the home of England Rugby is an experience you’ll never forget. Coupled with the fantastic support we always receive here it will create an amazing atmosphere.

“I was really impressed with the way Wales played against Scotland and this match should be a cracker.”
