Captain Chris Robshaw will earn only his second cap at Murrayfield
Robshaw's England desperate to get going

Chris Robshaw insists England's young guns are desperate to prove themselves worthy of the international arena ahead of their RBS 6 Nations opener against Scotland.

In a symbol of England’s brave new world, Robshaw has been handed the captaincy despite earning just a single cap ahead of the trip to Murrayfield.

Robshaw is joined by debutants Owen Farrell, Brad Barritt and Phil Dowson, with a further five uncapped players on the replacements bench.

Indeed, Andy Robinson’s Scotland hold more than double the number of international caps as their opponents but Robshaw insists England’s hunger will be more than a match for their hosts’ desire.

“The young guys want to go out there and prove a point,” he said.

“They’ve been doing it for their clubs for so long now and they want to go out there and show the nation what they can do.

“We’ve got to make sure in the first 20 minutes we’re ready for it. We’re not going to take a backward step.

“We’ve spoken a lot this week and last about a leadership group. It’s about those seven or eight players maybe putting a consoling arm around someone or maybe giving them a kick up the bum and saying – come on, we need to get on with this.”
