While Daly remains, Kvesic’s fellow back-rows from the 2011 squad, skipper Alex Gray, Matt Everard and Sam Jones, have all out-grown the set-up while Owen Farrell is starting for Stuart Lancaster’s side at Murrayfield.

And while England’s new side are favourites to claim the title again, the Worcester Warriors flanker insists they won’t underestimate Scotland.

“We know how physical Scotland will be,” he said.

“It’s going to be a massive test for us, playing in front of their own fans, and we know that it’s going to be a tough one.

“They have strong forwards and some nifty backs so we’ll need to stay alert for the full 80 minutes – but I can’t wait.”

Scotland lost all five of their games during last year’s championships and they suffered a late blow this year after centre Robbie Ferguson was ruled out with a hip injury, with Michael Crawley taking the No.13 shirt and Tom Steven coming in on the wing.

Head coach, Peter Wright, said: “We are disappointed to have lost Robbie Ferguson at this late stage. However this has offered the chance for Tom Steven to make his mark in the starting XV and show what he can do.”

Ireland will look to improve on their 26-26 draw with Wales when the two sides renew hostilities.

“We are all looking forward to the start of the Six Nations,” said head coach Mike Ruddock.

“It is always a tough test against Wales. We are confident we have prepared as best as we can and are now looking forward to transferring that training onto the pitch itself.”

With ten new caps in his side Wales head coach Danny Wilson has named Under 20 World Cup veteran Kirby Myhill as captain.

“Kirby was a natural choice for us. He is an experienced player with the U20 World Cup and also he has been a big part of the Scarlets this season, in terms of regional experience he can offer a lot from this,” he said.

“He has shown good leadership in training, the boys have responded well to him and he is capable of leading this team. We’ve been impressed with him as a professional and a leader.”
