Robinson calls up Ryder for Six Nations squad

New Scotland recruit Tom Ryder admits linking up with the national side can't come quick enough after being added to the RBS 6 Nations squad for the first two games.

Glasgow Warrior Ryder, 26, has been given the nod due to an injury to Sale’s Fraser McKenzie, sustained against Brive on Thursday night.

Former Saracens lock Ryder caught coach Andy Robinson’s eye when on duty with Scotland’s A side, who went undefeated last year.

Having played for England in his youth the Warriors second-row qualifies by virtue of his Glaswegian father.

And while insisting domestic duties top his priorities at present, Ryder can’t wait until the 2012 Six Nations get up and running.

“I'm delighted and proud to have received the call-up to the squad,” said Ryder.

“First and foremost, my focus is on helping Glasgow Warriors win tomorrow's massive Heineken Cup match in Bath, but I'm really looking forward to joining up with the rest of the Scotland squad, putting in a lot of hard work and challenging for a place.”
