England must 'front up'
25 March 2003, 5:11 pm
England coach Clive Woodward named an unchanged team for the winner-takes-all Grand Slam showdown with Ireland, and told his players: "We've got to front up."
For the fourth time in five seasons, England are one victory away from achieving a championship clean sweep and European rugby's biggest prize.

On all three previous occasions under Woodward - against Wales (1999), Scotland (2000) and Ireland (2001) - they have fallen at the final hurdle.

Everything will be at stake for both sides in Dublin next Sunday - a Grand Slam and the RBS 6 Nations title.

Woodward has retained the starting line-up which defeated Scotland 40-9, the first time in eight games this season, including the four previous RBS 6 Nations games, that Woodward has not made at least one change to his team.

"It is not the time to experiment in a one-off game we want to win - one that we must win," Woodward said.

"It's time to have some continuity after the last game. We will talk to individual players about the things we can improve.

"It's a huge one-off game - there is no hiding from that. It is an ideal situation, and we have got to 'front up' on Sunday.

"The important thing is not to over-train, or to do too much. That's the temptation. We did very little going into the Scotland game. Freshness is the key to Sunday, especially on the back of a big game."
