Lawrence Dallaglio backs Stuart Lancaster's decision to drop Danny Care from the England squad
Dallaglio backs Care omission

Danny Care's exclusion from England's RBS 6 Nations squad might have raised a few eyebrows, but former captain Lawrence Dallaglio believes it was the right call.
Interim head coach Stuart Lancaster has set about stamping his own mark on the Red Rose as the squad look to move away from a World Cup surrounded by ill-discipline.

Harlequins scrum-half Care however continued the bad press, being arrested for drink driving at the end of last year, leading to Lancaster excluding him from the Elite Performance Squad.

But while arguments are raised as to whether it was too harsh or the right move, it is clear which camp former World Cup winner Dallaglio lies in.

"Given what has happened over the last six months I don't think any of us could argue with the decision he made (over Care)," Dallaglio said.

"There has been many a player who has been found guilty of that and has not been thrown out of the squad, but he had to given what has happened over the last six months.

"In order to get things right on the field you have to get things right off it. That was one of the big mantras of the last England team that won the World Cup; that no matter how big or small these things off the field are, it makes a huge impact on it.

"The way England players conduct themselves in terms of everything, from selection to sponsors, to dress codes, it's all critical."
