Ben Kay is hoping he will be fit to play for England in the RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam decider against Ireland in Dublin.
The Leicester lock looked in considerable discomfort when he retired hurt after 62 minutes of Saturday's 40-9 Twickenham victory over Scotland which set up the mouth-watering finale to the championship.
But Kay, who described the injury as a "stinger" - a compression of the nerves in the shoulder and neck - said he has no plans to have a scan and insists he expects to be fit.
"I've had one before and I have never missed a game," the 27-year-old lineout specialist told the Leicester Mercury.
Kay said he suffered the injury at a ruck, explaining: "I went in and their guy cleaned me out and his shoulder hit my head. I felt if I got another bang on the head it would go again."
